Environmental permits in Indonesia vary in application details and duration depending on the level of risk posed by the project activity. In Decree No. 22 on Environmental Protection and Management enacted in February 2021, the following documents are stipulated as necessary to obtain an environmental permit (environmental approval).
AMDAL (Analisis Mengenai Dampak Lingkungan Hidup):
Operations that have a significant impact on the environment, or that are located within or directly adjacent to protected forests, must be assessed to determine whether the operation has a significant environmental impact, including the number of people and areas affected by the operation, and the extent and duration of the impact. UKL-UPL (Upaya Pengelolaan Lingkungan – Upaya Pemantauan Lingkungan):

Corporate building projects often have an environmental impact of UKL-UPL or SPPL, but AMDAL may be required for developments on non-industrial land, in which case an application period of up to 180 days is required.
Under the Omnibus* Act and Government Regulation 22 of 2021, it is no longer necessary to obtain an environmental permit as before, and the environmental permit has been integrated into the business licence of the company.
In addition, the declaration of competence to manage and monitor the environment by the SPPL has been integrated with the business identification number (Nomor Induk Berusaha) of the business.
